LOOK THERE’S GRANDPA AND GRANDMA, THEY’RE BEAUTIFUL.
Wedding albums are time-travelling machines— the single most important thing that will take you back to all the emotions you felt on your wedding day. It will be passed down through generations, becoming a timeless piece of history for not only yourself but for many others to come. Your wedding photos will become your most prized-posession, taking you back to the moment you said “I do.”
Here’s our top 7 tips on helping you put together a timeless Wedding Album that will spark joy for many years to come:
1 DON’T PROCRASTINATE
We cannot emphasize this enough! There are couples who get it done right away, on the other hand, some couples take years to finally getting around to printing a wedding album. The longer you wait, the more difficult and daunting the task will seem.
2. THINK CHRONOLOGICALLY
Going through hundreds of wedding pictures can seem like a difficult task. Think in sequence of how your wedding happened. Most likely, your photographer will have also sent you your photos in the order they were shot AKA the order that events took place in.
3. VISUAL BOARD
Think of your album as a visual board that tells the story of your wedding and your love as a couple. You want it to be an inspiring story book that tells the tale of your wedding for many years to come.
4 CHOOSE PICTURES THAT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
You want your wedding album to be concise and not overloaded with images. Choose images that easily speak for themselves. Try to not add more than 2-3 images of the same thing. For example, you only need one picture of your dress and possibly, one close-up of your dress. But anything more than that, would be an overkill. Similarly, try to stick to this concept, one shot that gives viewers an overview and one close-up of the same thing.
5. LAY OUT ONE SPREAD AT A TIME
Don’t rush when putting your wedding album together. Most couples print just one album. So, it’s safe to assume that the one wedding album is there to stay. Focus on one spread or one part of the event at a time. You want to put a lot of thought into it and make sure it comes out just as you expected!
6. FOCUS ON SINGLE IMAGES PER PAGE
For example, when adding a portrait of yourself and your partner (aka the bride and groom), you don’t want to add other images to the same page. I mean you’re the MVP of the whole production! You don’t want to take the focus away from certain important shots from your wedding day. A portrait of the bride and groom, parents, grandparents, shot of the venue, are all great examples of single images per page.
7. KEEP IT SIMPLE
Stick to wedding albums that represent your wedding ‘size’ and theme. You want to keep it simple and not add a lot of graphics or other imagery to the album that may take away from the photos.
